Don't be all thinkin that just cos ya'll speak 'English' she'll be right mate in our GREAT land 'DownUnder'???????? Think again! :o) From the moment you touch down on our SUNBURNT COUNTRY you'll be thinkin you're in a whole NEW world!! And you'll be scramblin for the 'Phrase Book'........
Now don't be thinkin we are ALL 'beer swillin, pie munchin, football CRAZED yobbos'!!!! cos we ain't!!!! Yes! we can be 'loud, colourful and down to earth' but we stand up to be counted in the eyes of the world!! FLAMIN OATH!!!!
We are pretty much GOOD people and we are a breed of our own in a LUCKY country!!! Ya have ta get on the 'Big Bird' and git on over ere and feel our way of life...... Jump in head first and learn how to imitate the lingo!!!!!! Just rock up to the first front bar ya come across...... chuck ya two bob on the deck, swill a pint of ya fave brew and start bumpin them gums!!!!!!! Before ya know it, you'll be throwin ya thongs on, slippin into ya stubbies and singie, grabbin ya esky, fillin it up with tinnies, headin for the barbie with all ya mates and LET THE FUN BEGIN!! You'll be up till 'Sparrowfart' tellin tales!!! ~Ridgy Didge~
Juz remember travellers, to leave ya lingo on the bitumen as ya walkin over to board the Big Bird back ome!!!! Cos there aint no one else on this planet who's gonna understand ya!!!! Under-ka-stumble? ;o)

Spin Ya a Yarn = Have a chat - tell a story.
She'll be right mate = It's okay - No worries.
Two Bob = Money - Coins - It's worth about 20 cents which will in NO way buy you a pint of beer!!!!! More like $2.00 - but it's a favourite Aussie term!
Pint = A measure of beer.
Bumpin The Gums = Talking = Tellin a story - Something we Aussies do VERY well!
Thongs = Rubber strappy sandal type things for ya feet NOT underwear!!!
Stubbies = A brand of shorts.
Singie = Singlet - Tank Top - Summer wear!
Esky = A drink cooler.
Tinnie = Cans of beer.
Barbie = Bar-be-que (Hot plate for cooking food on)!
Sparrowfart = Dawn
Ridgy Didge = True - Honest!
Bitumen = Tarmac = Road (The stuff roads are made of!)
Unda - Ka- Stumble = Understand.
Omen Osed (home and hosed) = You're a winner, you're there - NOTHING else matters!
This piece of 'work' is purely for FUN! Most of the lingo is still used but I've exagerated some to make it FUN! Some sayings are now obsolete with our young Australians, but the Aussies of 'old' still speak fluent OZ! We now have 'yuppies, snags and new age' amongst us. HEY! It's a great thing! I would just hate y'all to arrive here and get a bunch of fives QUOTING one of my sayings!! Ouch!
